The department of internal medicine is the back bone of any multispeciality hospital. Cosmo is proud to have one of the most versatile department of medicine headed by a brilliant clinician who combines excellent knowledge with great compassion.

Some of the common fields that are covered are listed below. Suffice it to say that if you are unwell this is your first port of call and in all likelihood you will be cured. If specialist help is needed it is our resposibility to see that our patient gets the same.

1. Cardiovascular: Diagnosis and control of heart conditions, blood pressure, ischemic heart disease, ECG, Echocardiography are all done inhouse.
2. Respiratory: Diagnosis and treatment of all acute and chronic lung diseases, treatment of bronchial asthma, all investigations like spirometery are available. Patients requiring hospitalisation are admitted and excellent ICU facilities are present.
3. Endocrinology: All types of diabetes mellitus are treated. There are facilities to handle all serious emergencies arising from this disease. Treatment of thyroid problems is also undertaken. In addition all other problems of hormonal imbalance are treated.
4. Gastrointestinal: Acute and chronic GI disorders, infections of GI system are treated. In addition all kinds of liver and pancreatic disorders are also treated.
5. Intensive Care: Cosmo is justifiably proud of its 12 bedded ICU. We have multipara-monitors, state of the art ventilators and all equipment like infusion pumps that are needed in the ICU. In addition we have facility for bedside ABG. Most of all we have a dedicated team of intensivists which includes anaesthesiologists, medical specialists, RMOs, ICU technicians and nurses around the clock to take care of the patients.
6. Old age problems: Senior citizens are treated with special care and compassion that they deserve. Discounts are available in many cases.
7. Multiple problems: This is the true forte of this speciality. The patient is treated as an individual rather than a disease. Most patients have multiple problems. These are treated together and the patient is not made to shuttle back and forth between sub specialists as far as possible. If specialist consultation is needed we try to arrange it within the hospital itself.
